Tres She Baby: XO Brenda Babe
OUR FAVE MAKEUP ARTIST SHARES HOW FRESH MAKEUP AND NAILS CAN MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A BAD BITCH.
Tell us a little bit of yourself and how you got into makeup?
Since a young age, I’ve always been a lover of all things beauty and fashion. So it was fitting that I developed my passion for makeup. I really got into it from watching YouTube tutorials and then practicing all sorts of makeup looks on myself. For me, makeup is about just having fun with it. It has the power to transform your look and your mood. I get a “bad bitch feeling” after applying lashes, haha. I’ve always wanted to share that feeling with others and from there, my passion led me to become a freelance makeup artist.
How long have you been a makeup artist?
I’m 19 at the moment but I’ve had a love for makeup since I was about 12 years old. And have been freelancing since I was 16.
Best and worst parts of your job?
The best parts of being a makeup artist is that it’s a job I don’t need a vacation from. Watching my clients’ faces ‘glow up’ in happiness after I’m finished on their looks makes me so happy. The confidence just radiates through and it’s a pleasure working in a field with the ability to make someone feel great. I don’t even like to call them “clients”. They’re more like friends, since we end up talking like long term girlfriends. Worst part? I wouldn’t necessarily say there’s a worst part to what I love to do but I’m not going to lie; very EARLY am appointments are a little hard to get out of bed for lol (I’m not a morning person)!
Any words of wisdom for others trying to get into makeup?
Believe in yourself, be confident and be bold. If makeup is truly a passion of yours just go for it and don’t look back. No matter what anyone says or how hard it may seem at the start, period! Build your kit, get your practice, and get your $. And that applies for everything!
How do you like to spend your downtime?
I honestly love just spending most of time with my boyfriend, watching drama series and trying new bomb food places.
We want to know what’s in your beauty routine, can you share?
My everyday beauty routine starts off with a beautifully refreshed face. We all know that for a flawless makeup look, it has to start at the base of it all: skin. A few of my favorite skin care products are currently Farmacy Beauty’s green clean makeup melt away cleansing balm, Tatcha the deep cleanse exfoliating cleanser, IT Cosmetics confidence in a cream moisturizer, and Mario Badescu’s vitamin C serum.
Has your style changed over the last few years?
It definitely has, from my makeup to my fashion sense. I’m pretty sure we all went through the f***ed up brow phase and the journey of figuring out what fits our faces and our bodies the best.
Do you remember when you first used press ons?
I totally remember my first experience with press on nails! I didn’t always have the $ to get acrylics done as a young teen so having cute nails at a low cost was so exciting to me. The Walmart nail section was IT.
Fave thing about wearing press on nails?
I love how they take me from crusty hands to bad bitch hands in minutes. The different styles, lengths, perfect shapes and being able to apply or remove whenever I want AND without damaging my natural nails all at the same time, is everything.
What are your tips for first timers trying press ons?
I think we’re all guilty of it but don’t use your nails as tools!! Have fun with designs that are out of your comfort zone!
Favorite nail trends? And most hated? Lol
My favorite trend would definitely have to be stunning, incredibly detailed freehand nail art. Most hated.. duck nails. I just can’t get past that shape, I can’t do it.
What’s your signature nail style? Shape?
My go-to for my nails is anything: pink, glitter, extra, bedazzled, long... and coffin shaped is LIFE. Basically anything Trés She releases xo
